The 5th Noveastern Venture Day Concludes Successfully

On April 17th, the Noveastern Venture Day project concluded successfully in Zhangjiang, Shanghai.

This edition of Venture Day was hosted through a collaboration of Noveastern (a trademark under Novares Group) and XNode. It marks the fifth Venture Day organized by Novares Group and the very first one held in China, aimed at further integrating Noveastern into the Chinese innovation ecosystem, advancing its strategic goal of becoming a leader in the development of new energy vehicles in China.

System in Motion CEO, Stephane Monsallier, was the MC for the event. With his 10 years’ experience in corporate and 20 years’ as an entrepreneur, he is able to understand the challenges of establishing fruitful collaboration between corporate and entrepreneurial environments.

In this collaboration, XNode provided Noveastern with startup scouting and guest invites, as well as event support. Based on Noveastern’s focus areas of “green mobility”, “Intuitive and safe user interface”, and “New UX for Health Wellness Safety or Comfort”, XNode defined the scope of scouting for technology startups in China.

Over a period of three months, XNode scouted more than 120 Chinese tech startups for this project. Out of these, 66 companies successfully passed the initial screening conducted by XNode. Following this, an evaluation was carried out by a panel comprising members from Noveastern’s headquarters in France and its innovation and business departments in China. Subsequently, XNode facilitated individual online meetings between Noveastern and 20 selected startups. Eventually, 8 companies were chosen to take part in the 5th Noveastern Venture Day project on April 17th.

During the Venture Day event, Philippe VAYSSETTES, President of Novastern China, and Jean-Luc BLANCOU, chief business development officer of Novares, started the event introduction.

The conference agenda included a panel discussion on the theme of “How to Successfully Implement an Innovation Strategy of Win-Win Cooperation with Startups?” Participants in the discussion included Lei NIU, Vice President and Head of Innovation of XNode, Sophia JIN, General Manager of Shanghai Zhangjiang Incubator Management Co., Ltd, Jean-François SURLEVE, Director of Global Product Management Fluid & Hydrogen of Norma Group, Hugo MESTRE, Group Innovation Director of Novares Group, and Stéphane MONSALLIER, General Director of System in MOTION.

Following the presentations by the selected eight startups, a judging panel consisting of Professor Shameen PRASHANTHAM from CEIBS, Yimin CAI, Director of Advanced Materials Division of NICE, Philippe VAYSSETTES, President of Noveastern China, and Luc DORNIER, Vice-President Product Development of Novares, discussed and selected the winners.

ZENCE(ecofriendly plastic materials from organic waste) was awarded the “Noveastern Prize”, while PLAS ELEMENT(material DNA tracking) received the “Jury Prize”.

The two startups and Noveastern will move forward to engage in further discussions and co-develop practical and viable innovations in the field of automotive.
